Make a donation

Help us answer more calls and provide suicide prevention and crisis support services to all Australians by making a donation today.

By volunteering for Lifeline not only will you be making a difference to the lives of other Australians who use the Lifeline services, but you’ll also be enriching your own life.

It takes a lot of dedicated people to provide Lifeline's telephone crisis support services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, across Australia. Lifeline relies on over 11,000 Volunteers nation wide to support Lifeline's crisis support line, help raise funds, work in retail outlets, or conduct administrative duties.

Online Bookstore

Lifeline Canberra earns a major part of its funding by selling thousands of donated items at our three Bookfairs. We offer a wide range of fiction and non-fiction books for all ages, as well as magazines and pamphlets, comic books and atlases, records, CDs and DVDs, games and puzzles.

A limited selection of our rarer, more valuable or collectable items is available for purchase from our online bookstore catalogue.

Donating Books and Other Items

Each year, the Lifeline Canberra Bookfair recycles up to 1 million books - many to our Bookfairs, many to other charities, and to paper recycling. Your continuing donations help keep our Telephone Crisis Support Service 13 11 14 available to the community. Thank you.

We accept all clean books (except Readers Digest Condensed books), comics, magazines and pamphlets, encyclopaedias (pre-1940 or the last 20 years only, please), sheet music, maps and atlases, calendars and postcards, stamps and trading cards, records, CDs, DVDs, talking books, puzzles, board games and models, computer software and games for current and historic operating systems. Materials in languages other than English are welcome.

Please do not bring damaged or soiled items. If possible, if you have more than a few books, please bring them in a container such as a cardboard box or shopping bag.

We now collect Lego! Have you got boxes of Lego collecting dust? You can now donate these to support Lifeline Canberra. If possible, bring Lego directly to the warehouse.

Please drop books off at our warehouse at 40 Heffernan St, Mitchell, ACT (02 6241 2901).

The warehouse is located at the roundabout at the intersection of Heffernan and Brookes Streets, opposite the shopping centre. Entry is via Heffernan Street; drop off is at the back of the carpark. Map
