At the Warehouse
Volunteers are needed all year round for activities including sorting, pricing and packing books, computer based searches and record keeping, and a variety of logistic and support tasks.
We're currently seeking volunteers to join our warehouse logistics team on an ongoing basis.
Logistics tasks involve:
- Greeting donors and helping to unload their donations.
- Moving boxes of books and other material between the various work areas of the warehouse.
- Collecting pallets of boxed books, and preparing them for storage for the Bookfairs.
- Collecting recyclable paper, plastic and other waste from the sorting work areas.
Training is provided. Some heavy lifting is required.
Our warehouse is located at 40 Heffernan Street, Mitchell (map).
We have a volunteer break room with tea, coffee and snacks provided. The Lifeline book warehouse is a great community environment.
We have vacancies on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays (urgently need Friday volunteers).
At the Bookfairs
Up to 100 volunteers are needed to ensure that each Bookfair runs smoothly.
Jobs include setting up tables, moving boxes of books and other sale items, tallying purchases, taking payments, staffing the cloakroom and clearing at the end of each Bookfair. We also need volunteers to put out road signs before the Bookfair and traffic marshals to help direct cars in the parking area.
We have a volunteer break room with tea, coffee, cakes, slices and lunch provided.
