Lifeline Canberra is an incorporated community organisation governed
by a Board of Directors. Members of the Board come from the local
community and play an important role in guiding the organisation.
The Annual General Meeting for Lifeline Canberra is held in November
each year. Members of the organisation will receive an invitation
to the AGM.
Lifeline Canberra is managed by an Executive Director who works with program
managers for each service that we run. Our main service, the 24 hour telephone
counselling line, is operated by trained volunteers who are supported by qualified
training and counselling staff.
More than half of the funding to provide the crisis line service must be raised
each year through fundraising. The remainder is provided by a grant from the
ACT Government. Our main fundraising activity is the Lifeline Canberra Bookfairs
which are held in autumn and spring each year.
Lifeline Canberra is one of many Lifeline Centres operating across Australia.
We participate actively in this wider Lifeline network. More information about
the organisational structure of Lifeline Australia can be found on their web
site at www.lifeline.org.au/.
The Lifeline Australia web site also shows any job opportunities with Lifeline
in Australia.
