Bean Talkin'

Bean Talkin’ is a mobile coffee trailer that attends local events to raise funds for the 24/7 crisis support line 13 14 11. To increase profits, Bean Talkin’ is run by volunteers. We are currently recruiting new volunteers and have a variety of positions available. Have a look and see if any interest you.

Lifeline Canberra will provide all the training you need to become a confident barista but if making coffee doesn’t interest you, you can still help out by cooking a BBQ or by taking the orders.

Become a Lifeline Telephone Crisis Supporter (TCS)

Twice a year, Lifeline Canberra offers a comprehensive training program for volunteers. This training program has been developed and accredited by Lifeline Australia and is nationally recognised. The training is rigorous and focused towards effective crisis counselling over the telephone.

The Training Program takes approximately 14 weeks, with one 3-hour session per week, one weekend and three Saturdays. Once enrolled, the dates of these classes are not negotiable and attendance is compulsory. In addition, students are required to complete regular E-Learning modules and homework.

If successfully completed, the course is followed by a period of probation on the phones. This probation period is approximately 12 months, after which students become accredited Telephone Crisis Supporters. Once accredited, students may apply for Certificate IV in Telephone Counselling if they desire.
